HealthyFarm conducted an online technical training course titled “Raising Laying Hens with Humane Farming Methods” for its farm partners. The program was delivered by Dr. Han Quang Hanh through the Zavi platform and included four core technical sessions along with an additional session on cost analysis.

• Session 1 – Fundamentals of Humane Egg Production
Introduction to basic concepts, laying hen physiology and behavior, and global trends toward humane, cage-free production.

• Session 2 – Barn Design & Facility Requirements
Guidance on designing cage-free barns tailored to typical Vietnamese climate conditions, including space, ventilation, and environmental needs.

• Session 3 – Humane Flock Management
Nutrition, vaccination, temperature and humidity control, and proper care and handling of laying hens in cage-free systems.

• Extra Session & Session 4 – Food Safety & Cost Analysis
Food safety considerations in egg production and a detailed cost analysis for humane chicken raising, covering fixed and variable costs and key financial insights.

Results & Outcomes

• Knowledge Improvement
Before the course, 60% of participants had limited or no understanding of humane farming. The final assessment showed significant improvement, with 6 out of 8 participants answering all questions correctly.

• Practical Application
Farmers from CAS Company reported applying barn design and facility recommendations to their ongoing construction projects.

• Networking & Collaboration
The training facilitated valuable networking, including discussions on transitioning business households into cooperatives.

Participants praised the course for being well-prepared, practical, and balanced between knowledge delivery and interaction.
